amiibo Rewards
Last updated: June 2026
Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2 supports a focused set of amiibo figures from the Super Smash Bros. series. Scanning Fox, Falco, or Wolf unlocks additional emblems and background plates for your Battle Banner — the cosmetic identity card displayed in Battle Mode before 4v4 all-range matches. These rewards are purely visual and do not alter campaign damage, routing, or medal eligibility.
Supported Figures
Nintendo confirms three compatible amiibo, all from the Super Smash Bros. line:
- Fox — Super Smash Bros. series Fox amiibo
- Falco — Super Smash Bros. series Falco amiibo
- Wolf — Super Smash Bros. series Wolf amiibo
No other Star Fox franchise figures — including any future reissues outside the Smash line — are documented as compatible at launch. If you collect Lylat pilots, prioritize these three for complete banner coverage.
Battle Banner Cosmetics
Battle Banners combine an emblem icon and a background plate visible to teammates and opponents in Battle Mode lobbies and scoreboards. Default banners use in-game art; amiibo scans append character-specific variants tied to the figure you register. Fox scans typically add Star Fox squadron styling, Falco scans emphasize his ace mercenary motif, and Wolf scans showcase Star Wolf branding consistent with his role in the villains guide.
Customize banners from the multiplayer menu before queuing online or hosting local sessions. Banners also appear during online matchmaking and GameShare sessions when players join from secondary Switch consoles.
How to Scan amiibo
Enable NFC on your controller, then open the amiibo registration screen from the multiplayer or extras menu (exact menu label may vary by patch). Hold the figure base against the right Joy-Con NFC touchpoint — the flat area below the face buttons — or rest it on the right analog stick as Nintendo documents for Switch-family hardware.
Hold steady until the confirmation chime and on-screen message appear. Each figure registers once per save file; repeated scans do not duplicate unlocks but may display flavor text. If scanning fails, remove metal phone cases or magnetic mounts near the controller and retry with the figure centered on the touchpoint.
Fox amiibo
The Fox Smash amiibo is the most widely owned figure in the set and unlocks banner elements celebrating the team leader. Pair unlocked Fox cosmetics with his campaign avatar when playing Star Fox team in 4v4 modes. Fox’s banner art complements default Great Fox color schemes without spoiling story content from the hard route or true ending.
Falco amiibo
Falco’s amiibo unlocks rival-flavored emblem art distinct from Fox — angled stripes and aggressive iconography matching his personality in squadron cutscenes. Falco mains in Battle Mode often pair this banner with mouse-aim loadouts described in the co-op controls guide for precision dogfighting.
Wolf amiibo
Wolf’s Smash amiibo is the only supported figure representing Star Wolf. Scanning unlocks antagonist-themed backgrounds suited to players assigned the Star Wolf side in team battles. Wolf cosmetics do not unlock secret campaign content — Star Wolf remains a multiplayer team assignment and story antagonist, not a hidden playable campaign pilot.
amiibo and Other Unlockables
amiibo cosmetics sit alongside progression from Challenge Mode Holoviewer logs and medal galleries. None overlap — amiibo exclusively feeds Battle Banner options while Challenge Mode documents lore entries and bonus objectives. Campaign medals remain difficulty-gated achievements unrelated to NFC scans.
For multiplayer-focused collectors, owning all three figures completes the documented amiibo set. Track Battle Mode maps and team tactics on the GameChat guide once your banner is styled and ready for online sorties.
Troubleshooting amiibo Scans
If the game does not recognize a figure, confirm you own the Super Smash Bros. edition rather than a different franchise line with a similar character sculpt. Remove the Joy-Con from the rail, power-cycle the controller briefly, and re-seat it before a second scan attempt. NFC interference from phone cases, metal desks, or stacked amiibo bases is the most common failure cause on Switch hardware.
Scans are save-file specific — switching Nintendo user accounts without migrating save data means repeating registration on alternate profiles. amiibo rewards do not appear in Story Mode HUD elements; open Battle Mode customization to verify unlocks after a successful scan.
